Sometimes, it’s okay not to be perfect. In fact, often times, being perfect can hurt you. When applying for a job it’s easy to get so worked up that you can’t get started. You want your cover letter to be so perfect that you can’t get the courage to start. My advice….just start. Even if you send a crappy cover letter, you have a better chance of getting the job than if you don’t send one.

This reminds me of one of my top 5 rules of cover letters – “you” needs to be your favorite word. It’s great to talk about yourself, but remember to talk about what you can do for the person interviewing you, and for the company.
